The name Mishima is rooted from the story behind our product.
At Mishima, we believe in making the seemingly impossible, possible, using mindfulness and meticulous planning to overcome challenges.
This thought led us to the story of Mishima, a peaceful city at the foot of Mt Fuji. Minamoto-no-Yoritomo, one of the greatest Shogun in Japan history, walked 18 km to the Mishima Grand Shrine for 100 days, to pray for victory against a rival clan. With all odds stacked against success, the best strategy is taking a moment of self-reflection before finding ways to defy gravity.
With Japan being the birthplace of carbon fiber - the core material of our chair, "Mishima" perfectly reflects a company that sees pressure as something that creates diamonds.
